Spore

Today, thanks to me making a small mistake in forgetting to insert the proper IP address into the DNS settings, I was only really able to finish one site, a travel agent site.

In other news, it seems like the entire gaming world is totally split about the newest and most expected release, Spore.  Thus, my blog for today.

For those of you who haven't read up on this game, you start out as a single cell creature, and then slowly progress into a tribe of more evolved creatures.  During these times you have to make choices that will affect later stages of your game; for example, once you come to the Civilization stage (after the Tribe stage), you have to try to ally with neighboring cities in order to try and survive to the next level, the Space stage.

This game seems fun enough to me; I've personally always enjoyed MMO and Sim games (I played the original Sim City and filled my map in a matter of two weeks), and Spore is just that - somewhat of an MMO Sim, if you will (as opposed to the more popular MMORPG).  It's received mixed reviews mostly because of  how EA games has carried it out; one game only gets 3 authentication codes, thus wasting it if, say, you have to reinstall it a fourth time and screwing legitimate buyers over, which is simply the worst piracy protection there is, as instead of decreasing piracy, it encourages it.

My guildies are in a total uproar over Spore; one of our healers got it to play this weekend.  I almost laughed in their face about how excited they were about it; I bet they didn't know that EA games used to be a part of Apple.  I nearly said that in guild when they began saying how great Spore was and whatnot, after having teased me about being the only Mac person in the guild.
